In all my years of quilting I have never heard it called a ragtime quilt I’ve only known it as a Rag quilt. I must have heard it wrong all these years sorry

Good experiment. If you look at the Accuquilt die for the rag die, they cut the corner squares out. That takes that BUNDLE away. I like the 3/4 or one inch. I like a middle of flannel cut the same size as the other two squares. Flannel frays so well. ❤

To mitigate the knot, when you're doing your snipping, trim a little notch out of the intersections. You won't see the notch gap once washed but the knot won't be so bad. Good experiment!

I make a lot of dog beds and I try to make them perfect. I use a heavy twill or denim because they hold up to scratching. Measure your dog to determine how big the bed should be and add a couple of inches(at least) to the width and length. You’d be surprised that if you give your dog a bigger bed than you think he needs, he’ll stretch out and fill it. I make pillow beds that aren’t overstuffed because dogs like to sink down and have the pillow come up some around them (like digging a shallow hole in the ground if the dog was in the wild). I make bolster beds for dogs that like a pillow for their head. Whatever bed you make, it’s important they don’t bottom out on the floor. Putting the bed on a dog cot is the best option. Also, it’s nice to have a zipper and have the fill in an inner bed (made of light weight fabric) so you just need to wash and dry the outer cover and only very occasionally the inner.

Fons & Porter magazine had an article and a moderized pattern based on an original mountain mist quilt in every issue for at one or two years. I'm not sure what issues they were. I've downsized my magazine collection. Im thinking it was in the 2010's.

I've made about half a dozen rag quilts and I love making them. I use flannel rather than batting in the middle. I would love to participate in the quilt-a-thon and even though I'm inside an air-conditioned house, it's going to be between 113-118 or even hotter in the next few weeks. The last thing I want to do is have a heavy, thick FLANNEL quilt on my lap as I snip the edges. Good luck with your project.
